Suitability: Beginners who can offer a large enough enclosure
Handling: Turtles are best as display pets
Natural Habitat: Central and Eastern America
Enclosure recommendations
These are a large turtle species once adult, and are very active swimmers. Therefore, they will require a very large aquarium or pond enclosure.
They should be provided with a large swimming area with heated and filtered water, as well as an easily-accessible land area to come out of the water and fully dry off whilst basking under UV lighting.
