Photos taken May 2024
Age: CB23
Sex: Male
Morph: Normal
Captive bred: CB23
Handling: Lovely to handle
Size range: 24” - 36”
Housing and habitat: 2ft setup or larger as an adult, arid type setup with a basking spot of 30 - 32c
Suitable for: beginners
Named after their cute upturned noses which they use to bury themselves and create tunnel networks.
Similar care to corns but at a reduced size being one of the smaller species we regularly stock and produce in house. Males average only 2 ft with females growing to around 3 ft so a vivarium of similar length works perfectly for them.
This species is known as rear-fanged venomous - a scary name for a not so scary adaptation - they use a bacteria in their mouths to improve their hunting odds. This can act similarly to a bee sting with some people being allergic and more prone to swelling and itching of the bite site. That being said this species isn’t overly bitey and is more likely to give a warning head butt if provoked.
